Allwayswith you is an Ireland based healthcare company looking to enhance services for folks choosing to “age-in-place”; a decision that promotes independence for seniors to stay in their own home as they age. AWY needed an emergency alert program that integrates into their pre-existing mobile app. The result is the collaborative effort of three Springboard designers that built an end-to-end function that will potentially prevent emergencies from occurring in the first place, while providing assistance when they do inevitably happen.

The Challenge

Project Brief

Throughout the research process, we learned about popular emergency response tools like Medical Guardian and Life Alert (Help! I’ve Fallen and I Can’t Get Up!), as well as other smart technologies like Apple Watches, home cameras, and sleep monitors that track vitals, sleep quality, fall detections, and more.

While they all offer their own individual strengths, alone they fall short. We needed to create a solution that combines multiple elements of these tools in order to get a complete overview of the Care Recipient’s health status.

Research and Analysis

The Solution

Through Interviews, Affinity Mapping, User Journeys, Wireframing, Testing, Prototyping, Testing again, and making Final Iterations, we were able to create a function that monitors the user’s health stats, medications, and daily activity to detect if an incident might be oncoming while simultaneously reporting it to their Care Team of loved ones and doctors. If an incident does occur, the user can reach out for assistance or help can be contacted on their behalf. We hope this program will help make a difference in someone’s life and the lives of those surrounding them. Check out the entire case study for more details.

Emergency Use Case

Care Recipient

Caregiver

This example shows interactions between the Care Recipient and the Caregiver during an emergency event; calling for assistance and locating on GPS.

Non-Emergency Use Case

Caregiver

Here, we see connection between two users in a non-emergency event where the Caregiver requests vital and medication updates from the Care Recipient.
